DescriptionThe best-known type of Ogoni mask is like this one: very small, barely covering the wearer's face, with delicate features, an up-turned nose, and full, flaring lips. The entire lower portion of the face is slashes through across the lips from one side of the face to the other; it drops open to reveal a row of teeth made from split cane. The masks represent spirits (elu) and appear at a variety of masquerades. On View
