    DescriptionThis export dish is decorated in the style of European grisalle engravings. Grisalle refers to painting executed entirely in monochrome in various shades of gray. In this case a fine white porcelain body is decorated with overglaze black enamel to imitate the grisalle technique. Gilt has been applied to the enamel detailing of the dish. The central design of what appears to be a heavenly queen sitting on a cloud and flanked by her familiar - a peacock - and orb and sword is rather unusual. It is probable that the decoration is based on a contemporaneous print. The outer rim is decorated two pairs of decoration. The set above and below the central design appear to be a stylized heraldic design. The set on the right and left hand side of the dish look like open netting.
