    DescriptionA plumed serpent and flower motifs decorate this polychrome ceramic bowl from Veracruz. The serpent circles the bowl and spots on its body represent feathers. The rim is decorated with flower petals and a net motif can be seen in the background. This combination of snake and floral iconography is a recurring element in Mesoamerican art and may symbolize the eastern winds bringing precious rain.
