    DescriptionThis painting is executed in the Nangan (Chinese) or Southern School style. The fan-style painting depicts a scholar seated in his thatched study, reading a book. In an adjoining room, a servant is carrying a tray with tea to the scholar, while in the garden a young servant sweeps the grounds.
