    DescriptionDr. Alexander Wood (1725-1807) was an eminent surgeon, well-known for his charitable works and acts of kindness. The poet Byron dedicated a fragment of the fifth canto of “Childe Harold” to him: "Oh? for an hour of him who knew no feud, the octogenarian chief, the kind old Sandy Wood!"
