DescriptionIndiana executed a number of paintings with a star motif. In the mid-sixties he completed a group of (American) Confederacy paintings, which featured stars derived from the design of the Confederate flag. Indiana's first Love compositions also featured stars. However, the star and drab palette might allude to Indiana's service in the Army Air Corps, the insignia of which was a single star.
