DescriptionArt in Chemistry is a variation of one half of a diptych from 1970 titled Peace Through Chemistry. Lichtenstein, who called this painting a "pseudo-mural," likened it to the social-political WPA murals from the 1930s. He began multi-panel, muralesque compositions of this type in 1966, intending them as a statement about heroic composition.
