DescriptionBizen yaki sculpture of Kannon (Kuan-yin) seated on a base of a rocky outcropping, which would have served as an incense burner (koro). This form of high-fired stoneware was created to simulate bronze, as metal was once too precious for the manufacture of arms and armor to be spared for such iconic sculpture.
