DescriptionThis lithograph is based on the 1959 drawing that served as the third and final physical state of Monogram (1959), the freestanding combine, an assemblage of painting and found objects that remains Rauschenberg's best known work. The title suggests that as the letters of a monogram are intertwined, so the goat and auto tire are united. This coupling has led Monogram to be interpreted for its sexual content.
