    DescriptionLothrop took many photographs as he traveled throughout the Guatemalan highlands. This one depicts a woman weaving on a backstrap loom outside her home in Santiago Atitlán in the early 1930s. The technology of the backstrap loom has not changed appreciably since prehistoric times.
