DescriptionMaria Martinez and her husband Julian had been making pottery for the tourist market since the late 19th century. Maria shapes and polishes the pots, while Julian paints them. This collaboration continued until Julian's death in 1943, when Maria began to collaborate with her daughter-in-law Santana, after which Maria's son Popovi Da took over. This small burnished blackware pot is one of the products of this collaboration.
