    DescriptionTo the immediate right of the Buddha is the Bodhisattva, Padmapani. To his right is the Bodhisattva, Avalokiteshvara. To Buddha's left is the Bodhisattva Vajrapani. In each of the four corners, starting from the upper left is the digpala, Virupaksa, guardian of the west. He is also known as the guardian of Buddhist relics. He is the lord of the Nagas: snakes. In the upper right is Dhritarastra, the guardian of the east. He is the lord over the Ghandarvas, celestial musicians who float in the air. On the bottom right is Virudhaka, the guardian of the south. He is the lord over Kumbhandas, dwarves with the faces of buffalos. On the bottom left is Jambhala, also known as Vaishravana or Kubera, the guardian of the north. He is also known as the separate god of wealth and prosperity. He is lord of the yakshas. In the back central area are a host of lohan or holy ones.
