    DescriptionThis style of Potosi ceramic originates in the southwest region of Nicaragua, but it, along with the more elaborate censers made in the Tempisque drainage of Guanacaste, is found throughout the Greater Nicoya area. The rough applique bands probably represent the scutes on an alligator's hide (Snarskis 1981:194).
